Meet Wallace

26 May 2008 In: Dog

Say hi to Wallace. He is six months old. We think he is a Pointer Weimaraner mix with maybe a little something else as he is on the small side.

And yes, he is named after Alfred Russel Wallace, so now we have Darwin and Wallace!

Iron Man

Iron Man

Movie Review: Iron Man

My rating: 4.5 stars
****1/2

This is a great movie to kick off the summer blockbuster season.

Action - check

Humor - check

Special Effects - check

Good Acting - check

Robert Downey Jr. does a great job as Tony Stark. The film, like most super hero movies these days, is perfectly setup for the sequel. There is a nice surprise at the end of the film hinting at an Avengers movie with none other then Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury.

Good fun and a good movie.

What’s the problem with DHL?

29 Apr 2008 In: Interesting

Twice now, DHL has been unable to deliver a package to my house. Granted my house is now just over a year old, but that hasn’t stopped UPS, FedEx and USPS from finding it. So why can’t DHL find my house?

What is wrong with Elitism

16 Apr 2008 In: Interesting

With all the recent media much to do over nothing about Obama’s comment on bitter Pennsylvanians and the ensuing judgement declaring that Obama is elitist in the worst way possible leads to ask this question: What is wrong with Elitism?

According to Answers.com this is the following definition of elite:

e·lite or é·lite (ĭ-lēt’, ā-lēt’) pronunciation
n., pl. elite or e·lites.

1.
1. A group or class of persons or a member of such a group or class, enjoying superior intellectual, social, or economic status: “In addition to notions of social equality there was much emphasis on the role of elites and of heroes within them” (Times Literary Supplement).

As usual, The Daily Show has an excellent take on all this

Going Open

14 Apr 2008 In: Mac

It has been a week now on the Mac and overall I love it.

The only issue I have run into so far is getting used to new apps and not having access to some apps like Photoshop, for which I don’t have an OS X version.

To get around this limitation I am going to give GIMP and Inkscape a shot.

I am loving using Aperture. So many cool things on Mac to list. It is just so refreshing after using and supporting Windows so for long.
